SONiA TO PERFORM AT OUTMUSIC AWARDS IN LAS VEGAS AT PLANET HOLLYWOOD THEATRE FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS
Award Winning Songwriters Performance Announced Today
Disappear Records and The LGBT Academy of Recording Arts (LARA) announced today that SONiA will be performing at the Outmusic Awards when they take place in Las Vegas December 14-16th, 2012. SONiA, the recipient of several Outmusic Awards as well as several GLAMA?s including Female Artist of the Year and the GLAAD Album of the Year, will be one of the headliners at the event which makes its debut in Las Vegas in December.
The Award show is sure to be the premier event of the year for the LGBT Community as well as a major event for the Music Industry. In June LARA and Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino announced an exclusive partnership that will bring the biggest night in LGBT music and entertainment to Las Vegas. The eighth-annual OUTMUSIC Awards will be presented in the Planet Hollywood Theatre for the Performing Arts, Dec. 14 -16, 2012. This spectacular event will create an unforgettable experience and is expected to draw scores of fans.
SONiA and her band disappear fear have won numerous musical accolades and received critical acclaim around the world. She received the OUTMUSIC Award for Best Out Song in 2011 for ?Who I Am?, an autobiographical song about the coming to terms with herself as she asks her mother and then God if it?s ok with them for her to be gay. ?Who I Am??s epiphany concludes with their affirmation of SONiA?s being gay. ?When I decided to do music professionally there were no OUT Artists, no role models, no footsteps to follow. So I walked into the spotlight and never looked back. I just wanted all the little ?Sonias? out there to be proud and happy about who they are. Being true to myself empowers my music. I am Proud to be performing at the upcoming OUTMUSIC AWARDS as LARA honors me and my colleagues.? SONiA said from her home in Baltimore.
